Today’s book is this: Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West by Michael Moore, being sold “as is” because it shows significant use. It came into my life in 1987 when I was living in Flagstaff, Arizona and working for Mountain Top Honey Co. as a beekeeper and wanting to learn more about the local flora.
I took a class/field trip with Michael Moore. It was one of those experiences where you are absolutely astonished by the depth of knowledge of another person. I would call him a genius, with encyclopedic knowledge of his subject.
Michael Moore was the author of several reference works on botanical medicine and founder of the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine. He was a major influence on the practice of herbal medicine and identification and use of the native plants. He died in 2009.

Ah…weeding our personal book collections is tough to do! I get rid of the occasional book, but I still acquire more than I get rid of. I was a librarian for 25 years and I enjoyed weeding the library’s collection, but when it comes to MY books, it’s another matter.
