Monty-cat always joins us. I think he was influenced by Dewey, (the library cat) by Vicki Myron.
I was influenced by Tootle (Gertrude Crampton, 1945), the train who had to learn to “stay on the rails no matter what.” I hated that book. Poor Tootle was broken, could have no fun any more. I just found out that as of 2001 Tootle was the 3rd best selling hardcover children’s book in English. That’s sad.
I was also influenced by The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (1911). I so wanted to be Dickon, who spoke to the animals and knew all about nature.
And then there was Report to Greco and others by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Come, join us for a fun evening.
